Clinton Finally Gets It
Free trade harms poor nations.
Decades of inexpensive imports - especially rice from the U.S. - punctuated with abundant aid in various crises have destroyed local agriculture and left impoverished countries such as Haiti unable to feed themselves.
While those policies have been criticized for years in aid worker circles, world leaders focused on fixing Haiti are admitting for the first time that loosening trade barriers has only exacerbated hunger in Haiti and elsewhere.
They're led by former U.S. President Bill Clinton - now U.N. special envoy to Haiti - who publicly apologized this month for championing policies that destroyed Haiti's rice production. Clinton in the mid-1990s encouraged the impoverished country to dramatically cut tariffs on imported U.S. rice.
"It may have been good for some of my farmers in Arkansas, but it has not worked. It was a mistake," Clinton told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on March 10. "I had to live everyday with the consequences of the loss of capacity to produce a rice crop in Haiti to feed those people because of what I did; nobody else."
Better late than never, but will Clinton now turn into Mr. Protectionist?

Why Private Health Insurance Companies Need to Disappear
It's good that they have now (I guess) decided to close the loophole about denying child coverage. But the fact they contemplated finding loopholes and that only after shaming from the Obama Administration they've changed their minds doesn't make them humanitarians. Private industries will always find ways to make as much money as possible. While on the surface that isn't wrong, but when dealing with health or public good, it's wrong. As long as we trust our health in the hands of private health insurance companies, they will always find ways to circumvent the system and deny coverage to make more money. That is wrong and it's time for government-run single-payer health insurance.

Jim Hoft
Non-violent my ass. This was a death threat, this coffin was saying to Russ "us teabaggers will kill you if you keep it up."
I feel really sorry for Russ Carnahan, his dad and brother die in a plane crash, his sister gets breast cancer, and now this bullshit. I hope for the congressman's safety and hope Hoft stays the fuck away.

Racist Conservative Denial
Helping to destroy ACORN wasn't enough for Andrew Breitbart, now he is in the racism denial industry and is denying anybody said the n-word to John Lewis.
Why can't these conservatives just admit they are racist? Part of the problem is that the denial itself is a tool. We know the biggest Holocaust deniers are anti-semites and Nazis. I've also brought up that global warming deniers want to make the Earth warmer and destroy it. Part of me thinks that this racism denial is part of a slippery slope to segregation or worse, slavery. Conservatism fits perfectly with slavery. Many on the right want to drive wages down for the working class, slavery is just working for zero pay. When you mix driving down wages with racism, you get slavery.
Denial of racism could lead to slavery one day and we need to keep calling conservatives racists until they die and then call their corpses racist. Patriotic black leaders like John Lewis, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Jeremiah Wright are also needed to fight against racism and without them, conservatism will keep pushing until we are back at slavery again.

No Shit Sherlock
How many more of these polls have to come out before people get it: Republicans and conservatives are batshit insane.
57 percent of Republicans (32 percent overall) believe that Obama is a Muslim
45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president"
Do you really want these people to have the right to be relevant what-so-ever? I fear for 2010 if Republicans take back control of congress (which they won't).

Sad
With the passage of healthcare still on our minds, there's sad news to report: ACORN is disbanding. Countless poor and minorities have benefited from this organization and I hope activists pick up where ACORN left off. This is just a symptom of a larger disease known as conservatism that is out to destroy everything good in the god-damn world. While O'keefe is waiting for his jail sentence, he can know that he fooled enough people including the Daily Show and the US Congress into believing the pimp videos were real. As a realist, I don't believe in hell, but there should be some sort of hell on Earth for ACORN-haters like O'keefe. We must work to remove the cancer known as conservatism (cancervatism) before it destroys this great nation.

Fuck Wolf Blitzer
Seriously, I would expect this shit on Fox News. The arrogance of the man to ask Michael Moore if he was wrong about the war. And shame on Newsweek also. Moore and people like me were right to oppose all aspects of the Iraq War and seven years later just because the violence dies down, doesn't mean it's winnable. It's not! The only way we could win it is if somehow countless supplies of WMD were discovered from the Hussein era under the desert. But Bush knew there were none and he invaded anyways. Because of this, the war is lost no matter how many so-called elections happen.
Kudos to Michael Moore and fuck Wolf Blitzer.

...kill yourself. To quote Bill Hicks. Seriously do.
Why are we whoring our children to these ethically challenged fucks who caused the financial crisis in the first place? Maybe we should boycott businesses that do this, but we'll instead go back to Guitar Hero and live in our la la land while corporations keep fucking with our minds.

Being Right for the Wrong Reason
Here's a story I made up:
Four people were attending dinner at someone special's house and they arrive in the dining room to eat. They sit down in their seats and the chefs bring out the main course. All four guests are eagerly awaiting to eat and when the food arrives to the table, they start to put the meat on their plate. They are about to chow down when one asks what they are about to eat and the host replies:
"Puppy."
Each of the four guests has a different reaction to the knowledge.
The first guest is stunned for a second and when the reality sinks in, she stands up and storms out of the room while ranting about how awful it is.
The second guest is also outraged, but instead of leaving, he sits and eats the puppy. He is ashamed, but he doesn't want to make a scene like the first guest who he thinks is rude.
The third guest also eats the puppy, but he enjoys it. He burps and asks for seconds. He bites all the meat off the bones and makes puppy jokes. He looks over at the second guest and asks why he isn't enjoying the food and equates him with the first guest for not liking the puppy even though he eats it anyways.
The fourth guest looks at the meat and slowly stands up and leaves.
When the fourth guest walks outside, he sees the first guest still ranting. She looks at him and smiles.
"You didn't want to eat the puppy either?"
"Damn straight."
"Good for you, it's a shame the other two are eating the puppy."
"Yeah it is a shame...I thought they were going to serve kitten."
The first guest frowns.
Moral of the story: sometimes being right for the wrong reason makes you wrong. The first guest and the fourth guest agreed it was wrong to eat the puppy, but for different reasons. Because the fourth guest wanted to eat kittens instead of puppies, he is as awful as the second and third guests.
Now let's put in place certain ideologies to the guests. The first guest represents the liberals who are the only ones who are right. The second guest represents the "moderate" Democratic establishment, they go along with the Republicans on some issues like bank bailouts even though they don't like it and even criticize the liberals for trying to do the right thing. The third guest represents the Republican establishment and they enjoy doing the wrong thing. The fourth guest represents the far-right, the Ron Paul/teabagger group. They represent bad ideas also and only criticize the other groups cause they don't agree with their bad ideas. This is why liberals should avoid them.

The Anti-Nickelback Pickle Beats Renew America! (Part 2)
Renew America is now celebrating 4000 fans.
The anti-Nickelback pickle now has 1.5 million fans.
That's up 300,000 from last time versus the extra 1000 for Renew America.
For a website that has dozens of right-wing columnists, it's tough losing to a pickle on a popular networking site.

Kucinich Has Done the Right Thing
Perfect should not be the enemy of the good, that's why he is right to vote for the bill. The bill doesn't prohibit a single-payer system, so Kucinich's goal could still be accomplished. Also, Kucinich I think once again can be called a Democrat again. While voting against bills cause they "aren't liberal enough" is nice on the surface, in the end they are voting like Republicans. There isn't a third option to vote for or against something and put an asterisk next to it, it's up or down.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like incomplete, compromised, or watered-down bills, but voting against them is sometimes worse than voting for them.

Idiot of the Week
Itawamba County school district
I feel sorry for the girls.
Seriously, what century do we live in? Do we need to kick Mississippi's ass again like we did in the Civil War? Did they learn their lesson from the 60s? Don't fuck with civil rights or else you will get fucked. The state that gave us Trent Lott and Eli Manning is now giving us homophobia, will they decide to turn around as the forces of progress surround them or will they just keep sucking. I'm guessing the latter.

John Roberts: Fascistic and a Whiney Bitch
I found this interesting:
That Obama criticized the Court's ruling in the Citizens United case was not the only thing that Robert's found troubling. The Chief Justice also questioned the purpose of Court members attending the State of the Union address, calling the forums political rallies that don't allow the Justices to respond.
So you and four other thugs rewrite decades of campaign finance laws and your feelings are hurt. Fascists never feel shame, if anything they project their feeling onto others. The "Citizens United" case was the biggest political rally in years. Roberts, Kennedy, Thomas, Alito, and Scalia sided with big business over common decency and Obama was just calling it out as he saw. Now I'm glad Obama is doing this and I hope he doesn't apologize for this; if he does, there will be little hope for him.

Question Their Motives
I found this Mark Krikorian piece via Malkintented about how people should protest the Census asking the race question and he has a solution.
Instead, we should answer Question 9 by checking the last option — "Some other race" — and writing in "American."
On the surface, this looks like a good idea, but since the National Review is a right-wing publication, there has to be some racist motive. Then it hit me.
The people most likely to answer "American" are white conservatives cause these people view themselves as the "true Americans." When fewer white people answer "white", the number of white people on the Census results go down. When this happens, the racists on the right will say there are fewer white people in the country and feel "surrounded" by minorities and these scared stupid white racists will just buy more guns and become even more racist.
Whenever a white conservative talks about "moving past racial identity", they are lying and we should question their racist motives.

Believe When They Show You
One of my favorite radio hosts Randi Rhodes would always say, "when someone shows you who they really are, believe them." When conservatives show you they are heartless bastards, believe them. Now Tom Delay is in the mix by claiming that the unemployed want to be unemployed. Yes Squirrel Boy, people want to be poor and not earn more money. BTW, why aren't you in jail?

Pink Slime Conservatism
I think a way to define conservatism is the sum of all bad human emotions and ideologies. Conservatism epitomizes the sum of: hate, bigotry, homophobia, elitism, alfalsism, greed, racism, religious insanity, sexism, fear, anti-environmentalism, authoritarianism, ignorance, selfishness, intolerance, xenophobia, and stupidity. One can compare conservatism to the pink slime in Ghostbusters 2. Liberalism on the other hand is the positively charged slime that makes the Statue of Liberty come to life at the end of the movie.

The RNC
It's the duh factor, duh. Republicans have always viewed their base as stupid* and this is now proof. Republicans and conservatives have always used fear to get their way and now they are exposed for it. I wonder if their base will rise up and get smart to this?**
*Well, they are, but I have the balls to overtly say it instead of saying it in secret and having it exposed by the media.
**You know the answer.

If You Deny Global Warming, You Deny Science
I was reading this list on Daily Kos and it's astounding that anyone can claim that global warming/climate change is not real and man made. If it was just the Sierra Club or Greenpeace (not to trash them in any way) saying it, one might have a reason to be skeptical (but their opinion is still factual), but this is one scientific and government agency after another and I don't think they have any agenda to dupe anyone.
The deniers on the list below the first list on the other hand have business interests and I would come to the conclusion if the fact of gravity got in their way of making a buck, they would deny gravity also.

Couldn't have come up with a better name to describe the teabagger terrorists.

Conservatives Have Joined the Truther Movement
While the "truther" movement has been traditionally been a leftist conspiracy theory movement, I'm starting to think that it is now becoming more and more conservative-friendly. First it was the Ron Paulites then a candidate for the Republican gubernatorial primary, now it's another shooter nut, aka a teabagger terrorist.
Conservatives are in their CYA mode over the Bush presidency and many of them view him as a leftist and not a real conservative. So it's plausible that the same people who believe that Obama is a secret commie Muslim born in Kenya, believe that Bush staged 9/11. Conservatives are motivated by anti-government beliefs and the truther movement is about as anti-government as you can get.
These nuts don't fool me, they are all conservatives.

Pass Something, DAMN IT!!!!!
A few weeks ago, I was for scrapping the current healthcare bill. But now that the Republicans are for scrapping it, I've become against it. Now Democrats don't even want to pass it by Easter.
Pass the fucking healthcare, pass it now!
Pass the fucking healthcare, pass it now!

Monkey on the lamb!
I know how to catch it:
Find Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, have them do their banana routine, have the monkey attack Comfort and Cameron, and while the monkey attacks, tranquilize the monkey.
There, I just solved 2 problems. :-)

Democrats are Corrupt When They Behave Like Republicans
When I hear something like this happen to someone like Rangel, Patterson, Blogo, Jefferson, etc, I'm ashamed they are a Democrat. Of course corruption itself IMHO is a conservative thing, so a Democrat is corrupt when they behave like a Republican.
Think about it, conservatism focuses on "individualism" and we know that is a code word for "greed." So to a conservative, they are just trying to get ahead in society, fuck everybody else. Rangel's crimes fit in well with the conservative ideology that I'm surprised that he is a Democrat. Let's also not forget he didn't pay his taxes, conservatives have always pimped their anti-tax ideology and Rangel was just following that.
Governor Patterson covered up for his friend's domestic abuse. Again, misogyny is a virtue of the right, so again conservatism plays into corruption.
In William Jefferson's case, it was bribery. Of course we have legal bribes and they are called "political contributions." Conservatives have been rejoicing in the Citizens United case which opens up the floodgates to corporate bribery of politicians.
With Blogo again, personal gain over doing what's right.
If Democrats just did the work of the people, ie being real liberals, they wouldn't have these ethical violations. On the other hand, the Republican Party is 100% corrupt cause it adheres to an ideology that promotes greed, elitism, power, alfalsism, etc. We saw this with Jim Bunning's anti-unemployed crusade (which was unsuccessful, thank LPG) and we are seeing it with the healthcare debate. The Republican Party is totally fucked, Democrats shouldn't behave like them.

Denier Fodder
I don't even have to visit the right-wing blogs, I know what they will say when they read this. They will say that the Earth tilting will change the climate, not manmade CO2. You know what, fuck these retards, I don't give a levitating shit what they think, the Earth is warming.
Truth About Bad Ideas
People who come up with bad ideas never come out and say "I have a bad idea", they don't even say it's a good idea either, they just advertise it as "new" or "change."
When people start to complain about the idea, they are ignored or mocked and told to adjust to the idea. Then when people get used to it, complain less, or stop complaining completely, the idea is dubbed a "good idea" whether or not it is good, moral, or works.
It's still a bad idea no matter what you call it. It's best to kill bad ideas in their infancy than wait until they are implemented.

Pouring Coffee on their Tea Bags
I just discovered this concept (I wish I thought of it first) of the Coffee Party to counter the tea partiers/teabaggers. Not only is this an answer to the teabaggers, but to those on the left who think we can reach out and talk to the teabaggers. Teabaggers are fucked, they need to be mocked and ridiculed. The Coffee Party is the next best thing.
Al Gore Strikes Back...Sort of
It's a sad state of affairs when Gore has to be on the defensive over this issue. He needs to go on the offensive. The deniers want to destroy the planet or at least don't want to do anything about it. It's time to get tough on them and first we need to discover who stole the emails at East Anglia, arrest them, and find out if they are part of a larger conspiracy to change public opinion about climate change/global warming.
Even if there is no conspiracy involving the stolen emails, I think certain politicians and industry leaders know global warming exist and aren't doing anything about it for sinister reasons and should be criminally charged for their obfuscation.
